Responsible Use

The Fantom Blackout Privacy Plate is built for enthusiasts who want control over when their plate is seen, at shows, at meets, and during private shoots. We want every Fantom owner to enjoy it the right way. Please read this before you use your plate.

Designed for private settings and off-road use

Your Fantom plate is intended for use on private property and off public roads, such as:

  • Car shows and meets on private property, where your car draws a crowd and your plate would otherwise end up in hundreds of photos and videos.
  • Photo and video shoots in private locations, like a private lot, a studio or a track, so you don’t have to blur your plate in editing.
  • Display and storage, in your garage, at events or on private property, when you’d rather keep your plate details to yourself.
  • Off-road and track use, where road plate requirements don’t apply.

Keep your plate clear on public roads

In the U.S. and most other places, the law requires your license plate to be clearly visible and readable whenever your vehicle is on a public road. In many areas that includes when it’s parked on a public street.

Always switch your Fantom plate to clear mode before driving on, or parking on, a public road. The interior indicator light shows your plate’s status at a glance: light on means blackout mode, light off means clear.

Check your local laws

License plate laws vary by state, province and country, and they change over time. It’s your responsibility to know and follow the rules where you live and drive. If you’re unsure, check with your local DMV or a local law enforcement agency before use.

Our commitment

Fantom makes creative automotive products for enthusiasts. Our plates aren’t designed or sold to evade law enforcement, traffic cameras, tolls or parking enforcement, and they must not be used for that. Misusing the product can result in fines or other penalties, and the owner is responsible for that.

Agreement

By purchasing, installing or using a Fantom product, you confirm that you have read and agree to this Responsible Use policy and our Terms of Service. You agree to use your Fantom product only in accordance with all applicable laws, and you accept full responsibility for how and where you use it.
